Courageous Conversations - by Adam La Rosa & Steven Sammut
Recently I landed an Acting job with ANZ, filming a very dialogue heavy scene for an internal-only ANZ bank corporate training video, playing the role of Bashir. What's exciting about it is that it is filmed completed in VR (Virtual Reality), which will be a first for me and as I understand a first for ANZ who are trialling this new type of technology for their training.
Because the VR camera has cameras literally all around it, I will have to perform my dialogue not to a person, but to the VR camera itself, totally bizarre but exciting.
The other great thing about it is the a fellow Actor friend, Steven Sammut landed the job as well, playing my manager, Mick. So knowing that there wasn't really going to be an opportunity to cut, we would have to perform all the dialogue in the scene in one take.
Now a rough rule of thumb in film is that every one page of script is equivalent to one minute on screen, so naturally the six pages we had would be roughly six minutes on screen - a lot to remember.
But we rose to the challenge. Steven came to my place the day before and we rehearsed for the better part of 5 hours. I set up my GoPro camera in three different vantage points and then cut together this final take of our scene as a memory of that day.
Hope you enjoy it!
