Construction Software

Foxit PDF Reader/Editor

This is my go-to software choice for viewing plans and pdf files. Using this I can blaze through the tender documentation extracting all of the information I require. From specifications to plans, I mostly search for keywords to find what I'm looking for faster.

Key features I use are the measuring tools for area, perimeter or distance. I also find useful the highlighting function to communicate key areas of attention and simple text annotation to add notes.

Key shortcuts I use for this app are [ctrl+scroll wheel or ctrl +/-] to zoom in and out better

[ctrl+F] to search for key words so I don’t need to locate them manually.

BuildXact

BuildXact is a software introduced to be by one of my construction mentors. I have done the free trial and played around with the features. I really liked the clean and clear user interface. It keeps everything looking very neat and professional, while not being too bland to look at for long stretches of time.

Aconex

While exploring the various options of construction management software I have completed the Aconex Accredited Associate course - provided by Oracle, which has given me a boost in understanding how to best use this software.

Collaboration is what Aconex is all about. What I like about the software is that it allows users to clearly distribute documentation and communication to all relevant stakeholders. A central hub for project information and communication does seem very useful. Used properly it would definitely boost the users productivity. I would enjoy using this software in a future role.

EstimateOne

Estimate one offers great access/distribute to invitations to tender projects.
